The resurgence of more Black Midwives is extremely important for our community. We are committed to ensuring that the legacy of Grand Midwives lives on. We believe that Black Midwives are the answer to providing happy, healthy and safe outcomes for local families. We believe in the next generation of Black Midwives. We believe in you! You have risen to the call and the community will benefit greatly from it.

Qualifications:

Ready to certify to become a CPM/CNM/CM/LDEM (All Program Requirements are met)
Must identify as Black, African-American, Afro-Caribbean, Nubian

Must reside in the DC-Maryland-Virginia (DMV) Area
Must plan to support local families in the DMV Area
Must have an Preceptor letter of recommendation/completion
Must have School certificate and/or final NARM signatures

Application submission:

Since graduation can vary person to person, the application is open indefinitely.

Scholarship Award:

The award will be based on funds available. If awarded funds it will vary from $500-2,500

Timeline:

Please give Supporting Sunrise a two-week timeframe to respond to your application. If you are applying during any other funding cycle (such as DGM, Doula, etc.), kindly wait two weeks after the funding cycle concludes.

Before you begin completing this application, please ensure that you have finalized your video submission. It is crucial that you adjust the sharing settings of your Google Drive link to "Anyone with the link." We will make one attempt to request access to your video and files. If access is not granted, we will proceed with reviewing the next applicant. -If you receive funds- We will reach out 1 time with a response to your application.
